Two posts in one day!!!. I think i might have a fever…
There are a lot of torrent clients out there and people swear by tools like Azereus, utorrent etc but i’m a leecher and i love a leecher’s client and hence…i love bitcomet. With the default installation of bitcomet, the performance wil be average but with a little tweaking and a good net connection you can pump up your threads to upto 100+ KB/s. So…Lets pimp up that comet.
- Make sure that you have the latest version, it helps with speed and stability.
- Press Ctrl-P to open up preferences.
- In the Connection tab, its usual to set unlimited download. For the upload, it depends on how fast your internet is, Having the upload under 10 is not recommended, if you have good net connection, you’ll want to set it slightly higher.
- Go to Advanced>Connection
- In the Maximum connections per task row, the default is auto, change that to 20-600
- Finally, in the Connections to keep per task row which by default is set to auto, should be set to around 50-Max connections per task.
That’s it you can see a significant difference the next time you fireup the comet. Don’t forget to let me know how it turned out.
Here’s a small tweak that lets you search for mp3’s on google..
Here’s the syntax
“Band or Artist name here” last modified mp3 “index of” -html -htm -php -asp
Example: If i want tracks by metallica. I’d type this in the google search box
“Metallica” last modified mp3 “index of” -html -htm -php -asp
Enjoy!
Sangeetha tagged me today the 5th of jan and frankly i did not understand what was going on when i received her SMS….Tagged? 5 things about me?…Well here goes
- 1. I’m a “procastinator”, I believe that if anything is worth doing, it would have been done already. I was surprised at myself for starting this post so soon, but who knows…i might shove it in drafts and post it later, should i kill this tag or should i not? that’s the question. I’m damn serious when i’m at work though, coz i guess that’s the only thing that really matters, the rest can wait.
- 2. I’ve been known to be sarcastic at times(well most of the time), and yeah i am and i’m proud that too. Sarcasm usually requires a quick wit, and the ability to extract the minutest points of weakness in a conversation. So if someone says i’m being sarcastic i take it as a complement. Its caused a lot of trouble and some people take it in a bad way. I tried to control it, but have failed in doing so. What can i do?, i guess its a manufacturing defect. Its like a reflex action. But you know what’s depressing though? its when people fail to see the beauty of a well placed sarcastic comment.
- 3. I love music and movies especially foreign films. I make it a point to watch a film every weekend. i love the works of Mani Rathnam, Ram Gopal Varma, Akira Kurosawa, Federico Fellini, Ingmar Bergman, Fritz Lang, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Andrei Tarkovsky, Martin Scorsese etc… and similarly i love music. Coming from a family with a “Musical Background” that’s no surprise, but i could not pretend to be in love with classical music… Sure I like classical but i love music with a little “Kuthu”. I love rock, heavy metal, trance, j-pop and alternative etc. I believe that a real music lover should be able to appreciate the music in everything….remember “Isai pala parimaanangalil Thiriyudhu
“ - 4. I never had problems making friends, even if i did not get along well with someone at first, its just a matter of time before we become best of buddies. I’m a typical Arien, I generally get to the point than “beat around the bush”, and i also have the reputation of shooting first, and asking questions later. I’m impulsive and have a short fuse. I cannot pretend to like someone or something just for pleasing others, the distaste kinda shows up on my face. I have a huge ego….i’d rather die than let someone see me cry.
- 5. I’m proud to be a geek.
Ok…..Now that i’m done, let me tag a few people….Karthik, Deepak , marsk , and Yogivar.
i’ve never made any “New-Year Resolutions” before, coz i knew how that’d would eventually turn out. But this year I’ve made a few and am going to try and stick to them. My resolution for this year is going to be 1024×768 @ 96DPI and i might push it upto 1280×1024
:-) ……… There now i’ve started the new year with a very bad joke.
