When projects go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the files you’re trudging seems all uphill;
When the deadlines are close, and the errors are high;
And you wish to smile, but you have to sigh;
When da boss is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
That’s what’s been happening in my life for the past 3 months. lack of sleep, junk food, etc…but was it worth it? HELL YEAH. We took on a project with a deadline that seemed impossible to meet, and as the 30th of June approaches, we are in the final lap steadily moving towards the chequered flag. My whole team is on a new high now but there’s still something that bothers me….Accomplishing the impossible means “the boss will add it to your regular duties”. We’ll we’be been bragging a lot about how we managed to tackle such a schedule that few of my team members started to feel that maybe we are jinxing the project, coz what could be worse than having climbed the ladder of success, only to find it is against the wrong wall?
This also gave me a good chance to see who plays well under pressure. As they say “Hard work spotlights the character of people, some turn up their sleeves, some turn up their noses, and some don’t turn up at all!”. But in the end a successful completion of such a project could lead to many things….i might even be able to name my own salary - i think i’ll call mine shazaam
